Try four kinds of art, earn a real credit, make something you're into

A relaxed, hands-on studio for any homeschool teen — no experience needed.

Teen Art Studio is a daytime art class for homeschool high schoolers of every level — whether your teen is a budding artist or just needs a visual-arts credit and likes making things. The first four weeks are hands-on intensives in four mediums — drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media — so students get a taste of each and find what they enjoy. Then they choose a project that fits their own interests, plan it out, and build it over six weeks with an experienced artist guiding them the whole way. The semester ends with their work matted, framed, and hung in a real gallery show. It's real instruction in a relaxed studio — a genuine fine-arts credit your teen will actually look forward to.

A fine-arts credit for the transcript

In Georgia, homeschool families set their own graduation requirements and issue their own diploma — you decide what counts. Many families follow the state's college-prep diploma, which includes three credits of fine arts, world language, and/or CTAE. Art fills that fine-arts credit, and Teen Art Studio is a legitimate, well-documented way to earn it: each semester is 24 in-studio hours plus your teen's own project time, producing real work with genuine process behind it. Pair a semester or two with at-home project time toward a half or full fine-arts credit — we provide a course description and an hours log you can drop straight into your transcript.

How the semester works

• Weeks 1–4 — Explore: four one-week intensives across drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media, each covering two core techniques — a low-pressure way to try it all.
• Week 5 — Plan: your teen picks one or two projects that match their interests and maps out their time with the instructor.
• Weeks 6–11 — Build: studio time to make it real, with the instructor coaching and keeping them on track.
• Week 12 — Show: final touches, framing, and a little practice talking about their work for the exhibition.

Beginners welcome — all levels, all interests
You don't need to be "an art kid" to belong here. Teen Art Studio meets students wherever they are: the teen who just needs a credit and a creative outlet fits right alongside the one who draws constantly. If your teen is instead building a serious portfolio for AP Studio Art or college applications, our after-school Studio Practice and Digital Design Studio are the better fit — we're glad to help you choose.

Where it leads: One turn in a four-semester rotation — the mediums surveyed rotate each term (Core 2D & Print, then Form & Dimension, Color & Experiment, and Story & Design), so returning students always try something new before starting a fresh project.

The semester ends in a real gallery show

At the end of the semester, each student's strongest piece is matted, framed in our shop, and hung in our gallery for a Friday-evening exhibition with refreshments. Families are invited, and the work is shown the way real art is shown. Your child's effort is treated as what it is — art, not a craft to stick on the fridge. It's the part families remember most, and it's something no other art program in the area offers.
